CIMB Thai appoints new president and CEO

CIMB Group has appointed Paul Wong Chee Kin as the president & CEO of CIMB Thai, effective 1 February 2021, the bank announced in a press release.

Wong succeeds Sutee Losoponkul, who has been serving as acting president & CEO since September 2020 following the departure of former CEO Adisorn Sermchaiwong.

Loponskul will remain with CIMB Thai as advisor to the president & CEO until 31 December 2021.

Wong is currently CIMB’s group chief operations officer, overseeing activities across functions in the areas of payments and digitalisation. He has over 25 years of experience in banking and finance in ASEAN. He started his career in CIMB Group in 2007 as senior vice president, head of sales management – consumer sales and distribution of CIMB Bank Berhad. He has also been assigned to various positions within the group, including stints in the Philippines and Singapore.

The appointments have received approval from the Bank of Thailand, according to CIMB Group.
