Customers will be able to make payments without using a physical card.
United Overseas Bank (UOB) has partnered with Fave, Fitbit Pay, Grab, Shopee, Singapore Airlines, SP Group, and Visa to make their customer’s digital payment and rewards redemption experience easier, UOB announced today in a press release.
UOB has teamed up with Visa to create a new Visa application programming interface that will enable customers to add their Visa credit and debit cards securely to apps by using UOB Mighty, and without needing a physical card.
Once their application has been approved, UOB customers will simply have to log into UOB Mighty and select the card they would like to add to their preferred third-party app.
“We have seen an acceleration in digital payments adoption by consumers, especially since the pandemic,” Visa country manager for Singapore and Brunei Kunal Chatterjee said. “Consumers are becoming more connected through digital wallets, IoT and e-commerce and it is crucial to enhance the current user experience.”
UOB Visa cardholders can now use this service for Fitbit Pay, whilst it will be made available for Fave, Grab, and Shopee as well as for UOB Mastercard® in the following months.
Furthermore, UOB has allowed their customers to offset their SP utility bills using the Bank’s reward points, or UNI$.
The bank also has enabled its customers to redeem their rewards points on Singapore Airlines’ KrisPay app instantly.
