Mastercard, IDEMIA, MatchMove partner for fingerprint card in Asia

The card harvests energy from payment terminals to power its sensor.

Mastercard has teamed up with French tech firm IDEMIA and Singapore-based fintech MatchMove to pilot its first fingerprint biometric card in Asia.

The F.CODE Easy card eliminates the need to provide a PIN number or signature, therefore reducing touch points in public places.

Developed by IDEMIA, the card ensures privacy and security by storing all biometric credentials on the card chip rather than a central database. The card also harvests energy from payment terminals to power its fingerprint sensor.

MatchMove will issue the biometric cards for the pilot in Q4. To support the onboarding process, IDEMIA will provide a full set of services to MatchMove that allow users to enroll in their own homes.
